KUWAIT CITY, May 7: The government and the Ministry of Finance are currently coordinating their efforts to modernize the educational process in the country to meet the demands of the labor market. Reliable sources told the newspaper that the two parties have agreed on the need to invest well in establishing centers and academies for the Kuwaiti youths to undergo specialized training and qualify them to work in most fields required by the labor market. Sources affirmed that these steps greatly contribute to changing the demographic structure. Sources elaborated that such cooperation aims to expand the implementation of major development projects, which strongly support the private sector and attract Kuwaiti migrant capital to invest in the local economic environment; thus, contributing to the Kuwaiti economy.
They affirmed that the current and future projects will contribute significantly to solving the problem of employing Kuwaiti graduates, in addition to their role in diversifying sources of income, so that the Kuwaiti economy does not remain subject to a single income indefinitely, especially since oil prices are affected by global political and financial developments. They said the ministry, through its cooperation with the government, has included several projects in the 2025/2026 budget to activate the private sector and increase its efficiency. “At the same time, it is working hard to intensify new projects to a greater extent in the 2026/2027 budget, as it believes that the present and upcoming projects will benefit from future budget deficits; especially since the directives of the country’s senior leadership consistently emphasize advancing all mechanisms of the national economy while eliminating all difficulties and obstacles to the progress of the private sector.
Sources added that the unprecedented and advanced approach of the ministry is encouraging the private sector to participate in the sports renaissance by supporting nationals in all sports fields, while participating in the construction of more sports facilities, for Kuwait to regain its leading sporting reputation in Asia. Sources affirmed that the Mubarak Port project, most of which is expected to be completed in 2028, will boost the private sector; not to mention its role in restoring the leading economic position of Kuwait, when it was known as the ‘Pearl of the Gulf’ in the final decades of the last century. They asserted that the Kuwait of the future will be called the ‘Jewel of the Gulf’, considering the country is experiencing an unprecedented economic renaissance in the new era of reform.
