Traffic Violations and Accidents Surge, Prompting Calls for Stronger Enforcement

KUWAIT CITY, June 7: The Kuwait General Traffic Department has released its weekly statistics covering the period from May 31 to June 6, revealing a total of 22,540 traffic citations issued for various violations. In addition, authorities arrested 64 juveniles and 110 individuals who were either wanted by law or found in violation of existing regulations. The data highlights the department’s ongoing efforts to enhance road safety and enforce traffic laws across the country.

The report also documented a concerning number of road accidents, with 1,293 incidents recorded during the week. Of these, 1,114 were classified as minor, while 179 resulted in injuries or fatalities. The figures underscore the importance of continued public awareness, stricter enforcement, and community cooperation to reduce traffic-related risks and promote safer driving behavior on Kuwait's roads.
