MUSCAT, July 27: In a major drug bust, authorities at Oman’s Salalah International Airport foiled an attempt to smuggle more than 11.65 kilograms of marijuana hidden inside personal luggage.

The General Directorate of Customs, working in close coordination with the General Directorate of Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Control, arrested two Indian nationals after officers discovered the professionally concealed drugs during a security inspection.

Officials confirmed that the narcotics were tightly packed within layers of the suspects’ suitcases in an apparent effort to avoid detection. The seizure highlights what authorities described as “a highly organized smuggling attempt,” and an investigation is now underway to determine whether the suspects are linked to a larger international drug trafficking network.
