KUWAIT CITY, March 16: Large quantities of drug pills which were recently seized by the security authorities were allegedly shipped from Syria, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting security sources. The suspect who was caught for smuggling into the country seven million narcotic pills has admitted members of the party had provided him the contraband and that they were in telephone contact with him until the contraband was handed over to ‘someone’ in Kuwait.

The source added the security agencies in cooperation with the Office of Search and Investigation of the Kuwait General Administration of Customs (KGAC) put a tactful plan to arrest the smugglers, especially after receiving a tip-off that gangs were at work to transform Kuwait into a transit point for exporting drugs to other Gulf states. The source pointed out during interrogations several names have popped out about people in Syria who oversee the smuggling of the narcotic pills to Kuwait.
