KUWAIT CITY, May 19: A defect was uncovered in Ahmadi Refinery recently; resulting in the blockage of the sulfur line, oil leakage into the sea and a leak in the main seawater line used for cooling; which led to a temporary power outage and malfunction of some units in the refinery, reports Al-Seyassah daily quoting sources.

Sources confirmed that owing to the efficiency of the concerned employees in the Security and Safety Sector and those in charge of immediate repairs, the defect was fixed quickly and operations returned to normal within a short period. Sources said the alternates at Mina Al- Ahmadi Refinery exerted tremendous efforts to protect all the units, confirming none of the concerned employees were injured during the repair works. In another development, sources revealed the price of one barrel of Kuwaiti oil increased by 84 cents to reach $74.85 per barrel during Friday’s trading, compared to $84.90 on Thursday
