KUWAIT CITY, Feb 6: Inhabitants of Salmiya and Hawalli areas have been observing frequent interruption of telephone service for the past two weeks and the concerned authority is fully aware of the situation, reports Al-Rai daily. A number of inhabitants indicated that telephones that start with 256 are completely disrupted but the Ministry of Communication continue to collect service charges.

Head of Administrative Services in Salmiya (Region 2) Engineer Ahmad Baba Jan said the disconnection of 1800 lines, especially on Amman Street, is due to malfunctioned underground cable due to ongoing work to replace the old cable with new fiber glass. He expected the work will be completed by next weekend, and the telephone services of inhabitants will be restored.
