KUWAIT CITY, Feb 11: The Court of Cassation adjourned to April 16 the appeal submitted by the former MP Waleed Al-Tabtabaei against a seven-year jail sentence issued against him for allegedly tricking his ex-wife into having carnal relations with him.
The former MP appeared at the court session along with his attorney who argued that the accusation leveled against his client were malicious , and that the plaintiff still files cases and describes herself as the wife of a former MP.
According to the case file, the Court of Appeals had upheld the verdict issued by the Court of First Instance which sentenced MP Waleed Al-Tabtabaei to seven-year imprisonment after he was convicted of tricking his ex-wife into having carnal relations with him.
The Public Prosecution had referred the complaint filed by MP Waleed Al-Tabtabaei’s former wife to the Criminal Court after his parliamentary immunity was lifted. During investigations, Al-Tabtabaei had denied all allegations
