KUWAIT CITY, Oct 30: Like peeling the layers of an onion — forgery within forgery, deception within deception — Kuwait’s authorities have uncovered yet another intricate web of false identities tied to one of the country’s most elaborate citizenship scandals.
According to informed sources, the latest case centers around a man born in 1970, who was discovered to have illegally obtained Kuwaiti nationality despite being of Syrian origin. Married to two women, the man has been on the run since the first half of 2025, evading justice as investigators continue to unravel the forged identities linked to his file.
The Nationality Investigation Department, through meticulous record reviews and security audits, successfully identified the man’s true identity and Syrian nationality. Their probe exposed a network of interconnected names — individuals who were falsely registered as his family members or dependents. Two of his close associates, also involved in forgery, had left the country years ago and are now considered fugitives as well.
Investigations further revealed that the forger had been using his false Kuwaiti identity to obtain visas for several Syrian nationals over the years. When a number of these individuals were summoned for questioning, they admitted to being his close relatives, confirming that the so-called Kuwaiti citizen was in fact their cousin — a revelation that deepened the layers of the deceit.
The Supreme Committee for Citizenship Investigation reviewed one of the forged cases under his file, which included 11 individuals. Following DNA fingerprinting tests and extensive verification, the Committee issued a decision to revoke citizenship from all 11 dependents after conclusive scientific evidence confirmed falsification of lineage and nationality.
Meanwhile, security authorities are intensifying efforts to track down the fugitive, who remains outside Kuwait. The ongoing investigation continues to trace every strand of this complex web of deception, to expose all those complicit in the elaborate scheme and close the file once and for all.
