KUWAIT CITY, Aug 9: In a major security operation targeting crimes that threaten the integrity of security and military institutions, Kuwait’s Criminal Security Sector, represented by the General Department of Criminal Investigations and the Criminal Investigation and Licensing Department, has arrested a Syrian national identified as Tarki Hassan Al-Muhammad for illegally selling military ranks and badges.

Authorities said the suspect was caught following a carefully planned ambush after security intelligence confirmed he was offering police, army, National Guard, and General Fire Force ranks for sale without a license.

The raid resulted in the seizure of 700 ranks belonging to the Ministry of Interior, 300 ranks of the National Guard, 270 ranks from the Ministry of Defense, and 500 various badges linked to the Interior, Defense, National Guard, Fire, and Customs authorities.

The confiscated items were taken into custody, and the suspect remains detained as legal proceedings move forward ahead of his referral to the competent authorities.

The Ministry of Interior stressed it will not tolerate any activity that undermines the prestige of the nation’s security and military institutions or misuses official insignia, urging the public to report such crimes via its official channels or the emergency number 112.
