KUWAIT CITY, March 22: The Department of Combating Counterfeiting and Forgery Crimes (Criminal Investigations) has apprehended a Syrian man born in 1972 who has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for fraudulent acquisition of Kuwaiti citizenship.
The crime dates back to when his father falsely registered him under the name of a Kuwaiti citizen at the age of five, in exchange for monetary gain. Subsequently, he enlisted in the Kuwaiti army, married a Saudi woman, and fathered two children with her, who currently reside in Saudi Arabia.

Following a 25-year tenure in the military, he retired. The convicted individual has been transferred to prison to serve his sentence. It's worth noting that the Kuwaiti citizen under whose name he was registered has long since passed away.
