KUWAIT CITY, Dec 4: Personnel from the General Department for Residence Affairs Investigation in collaboration with the Department of Domestic Labor have arrested 16 housemaids and 4 drivers for violating residence laws, says a press release issued by the Ministry of Interior.
The arrest came after police received information on a fake company which was allegedly run by a Syrian who was offering domestic services on an hourly basis via the social networking website. Acting on this information and armed with a warrant issued by the Public Prosecution, detectives raided several apartments, arrested the violators and referred them to the concerned authorities.
7 in public brawl: Seven Asian expatriates were arrested for participating in a public brawl in Souk Al- Haramiya in Hassawi area. According to security sources, when the Operations Room of Ministry of Interior received information about the quarrel, securitymen rushed to the location with paramedics and settled the quarrel. Four of the suspects who sustained injuries had been referred to Farwaniya Hospital in private vehicles. Reportedly, the quarrel broke out due to a dispute between two of the suspects, which aggravated when five others joined them. A case was registered at Jleeb Al- Shuyoukh Police Station and the suspects were referred to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action against them.
‘Stuntmen’ block roads: A group of reckless drivers closed some interior roads in Jahra area for performing stunts in the rain, risking not only their own lives but the lives of others in the vicinity as well as troubling the residents of the area. According to security sources, a number of Kuwaiti citizens notified the Operations Room of Ministry of Interior about the illegal activity, after which Jahra securitymen rushed to the location to discover the suspects managed to escape. They dispersed the people who had gathered to watch the stunts of the suspects.
