KUWAIT CITY, July 7: Sulaibikhat Club has announced the renewal of head coach Walid Salmeen's contract for the upcoming season, following his strong performance with the first-handball team and the squad’s continued presence in the Kuwait Handball Premier League.
The club also appointed Ahmed Abdul Latif as goalkeeper coach to strengthen the technical staff ahead of the new season.
Hussein Saywan, Director of Sulaibikhat’s handball program, confirmed the renewal of contracts for Estonian player Karl Tom and French-Algerian player Nouri Ben Halima, while Estonian professional Denir Janima will not return this season. The club is currently seeking a third foreign player to complete its import quota.
Saywan added that efforts are underway to renew the contracts of key local players Mishari Abbas Taha and Ahmed Al-Qattan, citing their experience as essential to the team’s ambitions. He also hinted at additional local signings in the coming weeks.
Preseason training will begin in early August, with the team conducting two weeks of local preparation before heading to an external training camp, which is likely to be held in either Bosnia or Montenegro.
Saywan praised the team's performance last season, noting that Sulaibikhat — known as the "Red North" — delivered positive results that secured its place in the Premier League. The team now aims to compete for local championships in the upcoming campaign.
He also extended his gratitude to the club's board of directors for their continued support and commitment to the first team, expressing optimism about what lies ahead.
