KUWAIT CITY, Sept 15: The Ministry of Education has confirmed that students are exempted from the requirement to present a valid Civil ID during the transfer of their files from one school to another, reports Al-Jarida daily. The ministry also affirmed that it adheres to the dates specified in resolution number one regarding vacations, work hours, exams, and the beginning of registration for the next academic year 2020-2021.

In this context, the educational districts issued general bulletins to the schools affiliated to them about the need to process the transfer of students’ files from one academic stage to the next, or from one school to another, without requiring them to present a valid Civil ID; while obliging the guardians or parents to sign a pledge to submit a copy of the ID upon renewal.

The bulletins stated that based on decision number one about the mechanism for students’ transfer between schools and to facilitate procedures for the educational districts, especially in view of the corona pandemic, and the consequent disruption of work in ministries and government institutions such as the Public Authority for Civil Information which resulted in the delayed issuance of Civil IDs; a decision was taken to allow the transfer of students’ files from one school to another without the need to present a valid Civil ID as long as the guardians or parents will submit a copy of the ID upon renewal.

Meanwhile, the Assistant Undersecretary for the Holy Quran Affairs and Islamic Studies Sector at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Dr Fahad Al Jenfawi said the ministry plans to re-open all Holy Quran Affairs and Islamic Studies centers by Sept 29, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

He said the ministry is currently in the process of identifying the mechanism and the number of employees that will work at these centers. He also said the sector will ensure that all employees and visitors to the centers will have to adhere to the conditions issued by the health authorities particularly social distancing and wearing face masks. He said the decision was taken during a meeting of supervisors and heads of the various sector centers in presence of the Director of Islamic Studies Department and Quran Sciences of the Capital and Hawalli governorates
