KUWAIT CITY, Oct 29: Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr. Nader Al-Jalal announced on Wednesday that the National Bureau for Academic Accreditation and Education Quality Assurance (NBAQ) is working to update its policies and strategies in support of the Neo Kuwait 2035 Vision.
These initiatives are designed to enhance Kuwait's educational system, ensuring long-term sustainability and effective investment in human resources, said Dr. Al-Jalal after chairing the NBAQ's session at the Ministry’s headquarters. The meeting was attended by NBAQ Acting Director General Dr. Jassem Al-Ali and board members.
Dr. Al-Ali added that the discussions focused on adopting criteria for selecting higher education institutions and distinguished academic programs, particularly those in Australia and New Zealand. These programs were assessed according to international classifications and standards to ensure that graduates' qualifications align with the evolving needs of the labor market.
He also expressed his appreciation to Dr. Al-Jalal for his ongoing support and guidance to enhance quality at educational institutions. Dr. Al-Ali noted that the NBAQ has been working closely with local higher education institutions to ensure the consistency and relevance of academic programs.
During the meeting, the board also reviewed a new mechanism for removing certain academic programs from the agency's recommended list. This mechanism, developed in collaboration with Kuwait’s cultural attachés in Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, and the United Kingdom, aims to ensure that academic offerings meet international standards and align with the country's educational priorities.
