Aerosmith announces retirement from touring after 50 years due to Steven Tyler’s vocal issues.

LOS ANGELES, Aug 3: In a surprising turn of events, Aerosmith has announced their retirement from touring after five decades of rock 'n' roll history. The iconic band revealed on Friday that they are stepping away from the stage due to lead singer Steven Tyler’s ongoing vocal issues, which have proven to be insurmountable.

The announcement was made through a heartfelt Instagram post, reflecting on the band’s storied career and their deep gratitude to their fans. “It was 1970 when a spark of inspiration became Aerosmith. Thanks to you, our Blue Army, that spark caught flame and has been burning for over five decades,” the post stated. The band expressed their appreciation for the support that has made their music a significant part of their fans’ lives.

Tyler, 76, has been battling severe vocal cord and larynx problems, which have worsened despite extensive medical treatment. “We’ve always wanted to blow your mind when performing. As you know, Steven’s voice is an instrument like no other. He has spent months tirelessly working on getting his voice to where it was before his injury,” the band explained. “Sadly, it is clear that a full recovery from his vocal injury is not possible. We have made a heartbreaking and difficult, but necessary, decision – as a band of brothers – to retire from the touring stage.”

The band also took the opportunity to acknowledge their inner circle and fans. “We are grateful beyond words for everyone who was pumped to get on the road with us one last time. Grateful to our expert crew, our incredible team, and the thousands of talented people who’ve made our historic runs possible. A final thank you to you – the best fans on planet Earth. Play our music loud, now and always. Dream On. You’ve made our dreams come true,” they said.

Aerosmith had previously postponed their "Peace Out: The Farewell Tour" in September 2023, revealing that Tyler’s vocal injury was “more serious than initially thought.” At that time, Tyler expressed his disappointment, writing, “I am heartbroken to not be out there with Aerosmith, my brothers, and the incredible Black Crowes, rocking with the best fans in the world. I promise we will be back as soon as we can!”

The vocal injury, which occurred during the band's third show in New York on September 10, 2023, resulted in vocal cord damage and bleeding.

Aerosmith was formed in 1970 and includes members Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, Tom Hamilton, Joey Kramer, and Brad Whitford, who replaced Ray Tabano. The band, renowned for hits like “Dream On,” “Love in an Elevator,” and “Janie’s Got a Gun,” has won four Grammy Awards and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001.

Fans with tickets to the postponed tour will be refunded, and while the band will no longer be touring, their legacy in rock music remains firmly established.
