LOS ANGELES, Nov 28, (Agencies): Stephen Colbert is in the process of recovering following surgery for a ruptured appendix. The official social media accounts of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert conveyed a message from the host on Monday, notifying fans that the show would be canceled for the week.

Expressing regret, Colbert, 59, shared, “Sorry to say that I have to cancel our shows this week. I’m sure you’re thinking, ‘Turkey overdose, Steve? Gravy boat capsize?’ Actually, I’m recovering from surgery for a ruptured appendix.”

Acknowledging the support of his doctors and his family, particularly Evie and the kids, Colbert added humorously, “I’m grateful to my doctors for their care and to Evie and the kids for putting up with me. Going forward, all emails to my appendix will be handled by my pancreas.”

This incident follows closely after Colbert had to host his CBS late-night show remotely from home a month ago, having tested positive for COVID-19.
