CAIRO, May 11: Special Olympics Kuwait, represented by Sadika Al-Ansari — Chair of the Athletes' Families Council and Vice Chair of the Regional Council — took part in the Regional Council for Athlete Leaders meeting, organized by Special Olympics Middle East and North Africa in Cairo.
Al-Ansari stated that the event featured discussion panels, dialogue sessions, and presentations of inspiring stories, all focused on empowering family councils to better support athletes. The sessions explored effective ways to influence athletes' behavior, develop their capabilities, and foster a stronger love for sports. Key topics included how to manage behavioral challenges such as stubbornness and how to train athletes to become more independent.
An interactive session also emphasized the role of the athlete as a leader within both the family and the broader community.
Al-Ansari praised the quality of discussions, highlighting their impact on strengthening family councils and equipping athletes with greater confidence and essential life skills. She noted that the experience helps athletes become more self-reliant, vocal about their needs, and better prepared for integration into society.
