KUWAIT CITY, Oct 28, (KUNA): The Special Olympics Kuwait organized on Monday the 5th Healthy Families Forum, attended by Sheikha Sheikha Al-Abdullah Al-Khalifa Al-Sabah, Chairperson of the Special Olympics Board of Directors, Hana Al-Zawawi, National Director Rehab Bouresli, and several members of the Families Council and entities concerned with people with disabilities.

The forum, held at the Kuwait National Library, featured a scientific lecture by pediatric neurology and epilepsy specialist Dr. Issa Al-Mashmoum, titled “The Importance of Brain Stimulation in Various Disabilities.” He reviewed programs, devices, and technologies dedicated to brain stimulation and their role in addressing concentration and attention difficulties.

Bouresli told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) during the forum that the lecture and the modern scientific information it presented contribute to enabling families to learn about innovative treatment methods for their children with intellectual and other disabilities.

She explained that the forum is part of a series of Olympic events for the 2025–2026 season, aiming to raise awareness among families about the importance of specialized healthcare in several areas, including nutrition, fitness, mental health, and preventive care, in addition to strengthening the role of families in implementing health and training programs to ensure continuity of care and follow-up.

She emphasized that the cooperation and awareness of families represent the cornerstone of the success of these programs and of improving the quality of life for their children, noting that the health program includes medical examinations and periodic checkups for athletes and their families, physical fitness programs, nutrition, mental health support, health education, training of medical personnel, and partnerships with relevant authorities.
