KUWAIT CITY, Jan 21: Under the auspices of Sheikha Naima Al-Ahmad, the Chairperson of Salwa Sports Club's Board of Directors, the women's handball tournament kicked off in the club's main hall. The event, featuring three participating clubs—Salwa Sports Club, Erbil from Iraq, and Bahrain from Bahrain—will run until the 24th of this month. In the opening match, Erbil faced off against Bahrain, and tomorrow, Salwa is set to compete against Bahrain. The tournament will conclude the day after tomorrow with Salwa going head-to-head with Erbil.

Sheikha Naima Al-Ahmad, the tournament's sponsor, emphasized the significance of such events in adequately preparing handball teams for the upcoming season. She extended a warm welcome to the Bahrain Club of Bahrain and Erbil of Iraq, referring to them as "brothers" in Kuwait, their second home. Al-Ahmad highlighted Salwa Al-Sabah Club's commitment to team preparation and strategic planning aimed at elevating the teams' performance across various sports.

Expressing well-wishes to all participating teams in the friendly handball tournament, Al-Ahmad emphasized the club's dedication to fostering excellence in sporting activities. Meanwhile, Mohammed Mirza, the women's handball coach at Salwa Handball Club, assured that his team is fully prepared for the tournament. Despite recent challenges due to players' academic commitments, Mirza expressed confidence in the team's sense of responsibility. He underlined the participation's goal, focusing on interaction with players and gaining valuable experience from the Bahraini and Iraqi teams in the game.
