Precaution against possible firesKUWAIT CITY, June 15, (Agencies): Kuwait Fire Service Directorate (KFSD) on Thursday urged citizens and expatriates to take precautions against possible fires during the summer peak. Colonel Khalil Al-Amir, Director of Public Relations and Information at the department, said in a statement that fire rates have been mounting since start of the fasting month Ramadan due to continuous usage of airconditioning sets and greater consumption of electricity. He urged the nationals and residents to set the air-conditioning heat degree at 25 for rationalizing electrical consumption and minimizing chances of fire eruption. He also warned of using defective electrical appliances. Col Al-Amir called for regular check-up of gas cylinders’ hoses and denied claims that filling the car tank full may cause a blast due to the high heat. Moreover, he advised motorists to conduct regular check-up of their cars’ tires and abstain from keeping flammable materials in their vehicles and cars. The Ministry of Public Works (MPW) has confirmed the transfer of management of the new airport terminal project to Minister Eng Abdulrahman Al-Mutawa in coordination with the contractor of the Turkish company tasked to implement the project within four years, reports Al-Anba daily quoting sources.
