Security Sweep in Salmiya Nets 23 Residency Law Offenders

KUWAIT CITY, May 5: The General Department of Residence Affairs Investigations has arrested 23 individuals for violating Kuwait’s Residency and Labor Law during a crackdown on illegal gatherings in the Salmiya area, the Ministry of Interior announced.

The arrests come as part of ongoing nationwide security operations targeting residency and labor law violators across all governorates. The ministry stated that the operation was launched in response to complaints circulated on social media regarding the presence of unlicensed workers congregating in Salmiya.

Acting swiftly, the Violators Arrest Department in Hawalli Governorate was dispatched to the site, resulting in the detention of 23 individuals. Of those apprehended, 19 held Article 20 residency permits designated for domestic workers, while four were found to be in violation under Article 18, which covers private sector employment. The ministry confirmed that all necessary legal procedures have been initiated, and the cases will be referred to the competent authorities for further action. Reaffirming its commitment to uphold the law, the Ministry of Interior emphasized that it will continue to pursue violations rigorously, with accountability extending to both workers and employers found in breach of residency or labor regulations.
