Mahdi unveiled that the several measures were taken to accelerate the Kuwait’s national development plan known as Kuwait 2035. A national observatory was formed by the General Secretariat of the Supreme Council for Planning and Development to ensure that the state development plans were in line with the UN SDGs, he stated. Moreover, the government’s priorities for the coming 15th legislative term were set in accordance with SDGs, he said. The three-day annual Arab Forum for Sustainable Development (AFSD) is organized by the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA). This year’s meeting would focus on “Natural Resources, Future Generations, and the Common Good.” The event brings together over 250 representatives from government, civil society, the private sector, international and regional organizations, and youth in a space dedicated to fostering a culture of knowledge exchange and a spirit of collaboration and dialogue. The AFSD is the primary regional mechanism for the follow up and review of the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in the Arab region. This regional Forum is also relevant at the global level; its outcome gives voice to the region at the High-level Political Forum (HLPF) on Sustainable Development
