Scorching temperatures and dust to persist in Kuwait through Friday
Meteorologists warn of heatwave, dust storms until weekend.

KUWAIT CITY, July 30: The country will continue to experience very hot and dusty weather conditions through Friday, according to Dharar Al-Ali, Director of the Meteorology Department.

Speaking to KUNA on Wednesday, Al-Ali said that current weather maps and numerical models show that Kuwait is under the influence of an extension of the Indian monsoon depression. This system is accompanied by a very hot and dry air mass, along with moderate to brisk northwesterly winds that may exceed speeds of 50 kilometers per hour.

“These dusty winds are expected to significantly reduce horizontal visibility, particularly in open areas, with visibility dropping to less than 1,000 meters in some regions,” Al-Ali noted. He added that these conditions could also cause sea waves to rise above six feet at times.

The northwesterly winds are forecast to persist until Thursday, with speeds ranging between 15 and 45 kilometers per hour. These winds may continue to stir up dust and affect visibility, especially in open areas, while also causing occasional increases in sea wave heights.

Conditions are expected to gradually improve by Friday, Al-Ali said, as wind speeds begin to decrease. “The weather from today through Friday will remain very hot during the day and hot to warm during the night,” he explained, adding that dust levels should begin to decline during the evening hours of Friday.

Temperatures are forecast to remain high throughout the period, with daytime highs ranging between 48 and 51 degrees Celsius and nighttime lows between 34 and 36 degrees Celsius
