Saudi Man Jailed For 7 Years For Forging Kuwaiti Citizenship

KUWAIT CITY, June 28: The Criminal Court sentenced a Saudi national to seven years in prison with hard labor and fined him KD336,000 for forging a naturalization application in collaboration with a Kuwaiti citizen by claiming to be his ‘biological son’, which enabled him to obtain Kuwaiti citizenship and later be appointed to the Ministry of Defense with the rank of sergeant. The ruling stated that the defendant was arrested at Salmi border, while attempting to flee.

A Saudi identification card and a Kuwaiti civil identification card were found in his possession. It was later determined that he tried to leave the country to evade financial obligations and bank loans. The court imposed seven-year prison sentence on the fugitive Kuwaiti citizen and his Saudi father, after it was proven that they were involved in the forgery. The court confirmed in its ruling that the defendants made a blatant attack on national identity and tampered with official documents which affected sovereignty, stressing the seriousness of this type of crime in undermining confidence in State institutions.
