KUWAIT CITY, April 8, (KUNA): Saudi Arabia won Saturday the Gulf Junior Athletics championship, held at Kuwait Amateur Athletic Federation’s track, trailed by Kuwait and Qatar respectively. Saudi Arabia won 28 medals during the three-day championship — eight gold, 13 silver and seven bronze. Kuwait won 15 medals — five gold, one silver and nine bronze — and Qatar won nine which included four gold medals, two silver and three bronze. Sayyar Al-Enezi, secretary general of Kuwait Amateur Athletic Federation, said the junior athletes were the future of the track and field sport in the Gulf countries. Al-Enezi, also manager of the championship, thanked the Gulf countries for participating in the tournament. Ibrahim bu Bshait, head of Saudi delegation, said he was proud of his team to have won the championship.
