KUWAIT CITY, April 4: Today marks the conclusion of the eighth round of the Kuwait Handball League at the Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Complex Hall. Sulaibikhat, currently ninth with five points, will face off against Yarmouk, also with five points, at 8:30 pm. Following this match at 10 pm is the highly anticipated summit clash between league leader Salmiya, boasting a perfect record with 14 points, and Burgan, positioned sixth with seven points.
Earlier Kuwait Club triumphed over Khaitan with a score of 36-30, propelling them to the runner-up spot with 12 points. Kazma secured third place, closely followed by Al-Arabi. Meanwhile, Khaitan suffered its seventh defeat, remaining in twelfth place with two points.
Elsewhere, Al-Qurain reclaimed victory by defeating Al-Sahel Station 39-27, elevating its position to seventh with seven points. Al-Sahel, on the other hand, endured its seventh consecutive loss, languishing at the bottom of the table without any points.
Looking ahead to today's matches, the encounter between Sulaibikhat and Yarmouk promises to be tightly contested due to the comparable skill levels of both teams. The subsequent match presents a challenging task for Burgan, who continues to grapple with the repercussions of significant player changes from the previous season and the delayed return of its Algerian coach Saeed Hegazy. Nonetheless, Burgan remains determined to overcome Salmiya and climb to fifth place.
Salmiya, led by Tunisian coach Al-Munji Al-Banani, has displayed exceptional performance throughout the league, winning all seven matches convincingly. With aspirations to maintain their undefeated streak, Salmiya aims to achieve a feat unprecedented in recent years.
