KUWAIT CITY, Sept 8: One of the female members of a ruling family is once again caught in the web of libel cases filed against her for insulting the Kuwaiti sects (Ja’afari and Shiite), members of Al-Malek Al-Sabah family, and the Lebanese supporters of their Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri and derogatory comments made on the resignation of the Farwaniya Governor Sheikh Faisal al-Malik via the ‘voice messages’ of insults and hatred which have spread like wild fire over the past two in the social media, reports Al-Rai daily.
The voice messages attributed to the suspect are full of harsh criticism of the outgoing governor and also contain abhorrent sectarian ‘abuses’ which have provoked the Kuwaitis, both Sunni and Shiite.
The daily has learned Kuwaitis particularly the Shiites have begun preparations for prosecution, while some called on the government to take immediate action to enforce unity law and crack down on discrimination. The Sheikha had legal precedents in the past because she had been in a similar situation about two years ago after she posted a message abusing a section of the citizens, but compromises led to the royal woman escaping prosecution.
