RIYADH, June 23: Saudi media reports have confirmed that Al-Nassr Club has reached a final agreement with Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo to extend his contract for an additional season.

According to the Saudi newspaper Al-Riyadhiyah, the routine procedures for the renewal are expected to be completed soon, following a mutual agreement between Ronaldo and the Al-Nassr management. The extension will keep the legendary striker with the club beyond his current deal, which began in January 2023.

Sources indicate that the renewal negotiations aim to add one more year to Ronaldo’s contract, with his future beyond that — particularly after the 2026 FIFA World Cup — to be evaluated based on his playing ambitions and physical condition.

Al-Riyadhiyah previously reported four months ago that both Al-Nassr and Ronaldo’s representatives had agreed in principle to a one-year extension, with the potential for further discussions once the new deal nears its end.

Ronaldo, who joined Al-Nassr on a free transfer, has already made an impact at the club by leading them to the 2023 King Salman Cup for Arab Clubs title. He has also become a central figure in the Saudi Pro League’s international growth.

While the financial terms of the new contract have not been officially disclosed, sources suggest that it is likely to mirror his current deal, reportedly valued at €200 million per year, placing him among the highest-paid athletes globally.
