KUWAIT CITY, Dec 5: The concerned authorities in the Interior Ministry have distributed about 290,000 electronic passports to citizens to replace the old documents, reports Al-Anba daily quoting sources. Sources said this is in compliance with the directives of acting Interior Minister Sheikh Khalid Al-Jarrah and Undersecretary Lieutenant Mahmoud Al-Dousari. Sources added Assistant Undersecretary for Citizenship and Passport Affairs Major General Sheikh Mazen Al-Jarrah and Director General of the Citizenship and Passports General Department Brigadier Yousef Al-Sinin followed up the distribution of electronic passports. Sources revealed the number of citizens who requested for renewal and replacement of their passports is average; adding Al-Shamiya Center recorded the highest number of passports distributed, followed by West Mishref, Adan, Fahad Al-Ahmad, Ishbiliya and Jahra. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Defense is calling bedoun applicants who have applied for have applied for military service through text messages for final interviews, reports Annahar daily. The ministry stressed on the need to adhere to the national dress and security card in addition to the original official documents and copies. According to sources, about 1,000 bedoun will be accepted and posted at various camps for training in January. Others will be accepted after the graduation of the first batch. In another development, head of Saad Al-Abdullah Cooperative Society Fawaz Al-Mutairi has confirmed provision of four outlets for the camping season to cover the needs of campers, reports Al-Anba daily. One outlet is located in Subiya, one in Salmi and two in Sabah Al-Ahmad Heritage Village. ‘And, acting Health Minister Dr Jamal Al-Harbi has designated Assistant Undersecretary for Public Health Affairs Dr Majda Al-Qattan as Assistant Undersecretary for Support Medical Affairs in addition to her current post, reports Al-Anba daily. Al-Harbi also assigned Assistant Undersecretary for Planning Affairs and Quality Dr Mohammad Khashti as Assistant Undersecretary for Private Medical Services.
