KUWAIT CITY, June 12: The car shades constructed outside cooperative societies, schools, and many government agencies are not licensed, due to which their existence can be regarded as a violation, reports Al-Rai daily quoting an official source in Kuwait Municipality.

He indicated that licensing these sheds would enhance the municipality’s revenues, due to which the concerned departments should address those entities and either license those car sheds immediately, or issue removal warnings.

The sources stressed the need to license the car sheds in line with certain requirements and standards that are environmentally friendly, and ensure they are consistent with the general civilized appearance .

Meanwhile, after the Violations Removal Department in Hawally Municipality conducted an inspection tour to look for car sheds that were built on state properties in violation of the law and regulations in the governorate. The team issued 600 warnings within a period of nine months in Salmiya area. Some of the violating car sheds were removed following the expiry of the warnings and reminders.

Head of the department Ayed Al-Qahtani said, "The team removes about 70 violating umbrellas on a weekly basis in Salmiya. On Saturday, 38 car sheds were removed. This number is considered quite large,

The campaign will continue until all violating car sheds are removed.

However, breaking or removing a car shade is tantamount to a financial violation, especially since the cost of setting up a car shed is expensive".
