KUWAIT CITY, Nov 4: Algerian Ambassador to Kuwait Omar Belhadj reaffirmed on Monday the “strong and distinct” relations between Algeria and Kuwait, highlighting their deep-rooted historical ties and continued cooperation across various fields.
Speaking at a reception hosted by the Algerian Embassy in Kuwait to mark the country’s National Day, Ambassador Belhadj said that relations between the two brotherly nations have always been founded on mutual respect, shared understanding, and fruitful collaboration.
He noted that this year’s celebration of the 71st anniversary of the Algerian Revolution coincides with the 63rd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Algeria and Kuwait, underscoring the enduring strength of their partnership.
The event was attended by Kuwait’s Minister of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy, Minister of Finance, and Acting Minister of State for Economic Affairs and Investment, Dr. Sabeeh Al-Mukhaizeem, along with several heads of diplomatic missions and representatives of international organizations in Kuwait.
Ambassador Belhadj commended the distinguished level of bilateral relations, attributing their progress to the “wise guidance of the two leaderships” and their shared commitment to advancing cooperation in a manner that serves the interests of both nations.
He pointed out that cooperation between Algeria and Kuwait has seen continuous high-level ministerial activity, including the visit of the Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defense and Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army to Kuwait in November 2024 to discuss military cooperation. This was followed by the visit of the Minister of Energy, Mines, and Renewable Energies in December 2024, as well as visits by the Algerian Ministers of Interior and Finance in February and April 2025, respectively.
Belhadj emphasized that Algerian-Kuwaiti relations are characterized by ongoing consultation and close coordination, noting that Algeria remains committed to strengthening these ties in line with the aspirations of both countries’ leaderships and peoples.
He expressed his hope for the convening of the next session of the Joint Committee between the two countries in early 2026, which he said would further deepen bilateral cooperation and elevate it to higher levels.
