‘Relation & bond between Kuwait and Bangladesh are inseparable’

Bangladesh Embassy marks 52nd Armed Forces Day

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 28: “Relation and bond between Kuwait and Bangladesh are inseparable and historically connected,” mentioned the H.E. Ambassador of Bangladesh during his speech delivered at the reception arranged by the Defence Wing of Bangladesh Embassy. The reception on the occasion of 52nd Anniversary of ‘Armed Forces Day’ of Bangladesh was organized on 27th November at the Al Taj Ballroom of Hotel Millennium. Brigadier General Lafi Malfi Almutari, Director of Junior Commissioned Officer and Non- Non-Commissioned Officer Affairs Branch, Kuwait Armed Forces graced the reception as Guest of Honour and as representative of Chief of Staff of Kuwait Armed Forces. The reception was attended by a large number of ambassadors from different countries, members of the diplomatic and civil societies of Kuwait, Defence Attaches resident in Kuwait, officers of the Bangladesh Military Contingent to Kuwait and members of the Bangladesh community.

Reception
The colourful reception began with the welcome speech of Brigadier General Md Hasan Uz Zaman, Defence Attache of Bangladesh in Kuwait. He thanked the Guest of Honour Brigadier General Lafi Malfi Almutari for attending the reception. He also thanked all the distinguished guests and highlighted to them that the “Armed Forces Day of 21 November holds special importance not only for the members of Bangladesh Armed Forces but also for the people of Bangladesh.

It signifies the paramount importance of comradeship, togetherness and jointness in arms to fight collectively against the enemy. He said “On this day, we pay homage to our war heroes, martyrs. The day inspires the members of Bangladesh Armed Forces to renew their oath to protect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of their motherland Bangladesh”. Further highlighting the professional development of the Bangladesh Armed Forces, Brigadier Hasan mentioned that following the dream of Father of the Nation, the Bangladesh Armed Forces is being modernized under “Forces Goal-2030”.

As a professional Armed Forces, Bangladesh proudly holds the top position among all troops contributing countries under the banner of the United Nations for world peace. Under a bilateral agreement, the Bangladesh Military Contingent has been deployed in Kuwait since 1991 and has supported the Kuwait Armed Forces by engaging deeply in constructive and development works of Kuwait. He proudly stated “Our Armed Forces are a symbol of pride, a symbol of trust and confidence. Its contribution to nation-building activities, disaster management and internal security duties are proudly acknowledged by every citizen of Bangladesh.”

H.E. the Ambassador of Bangladesh Major General Md Ashikuzzaman said in his speech that “Kuwait has a special place in the hearts and minds of the people of Bangladesh.” Kuwait and Bangladesh are strategic partners in different fields including the military. The ambassador thanked and expressed his deep gratitude to H.H. the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and his government on the occasion of the 52nd Armed Forces Day of Bangladesh.

The ambassador further expressed with great respect and honour, the contribution of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and valiant soldiers, men and women in the war of Independence of Bangladesh. The ambassador and the defence attache wished for a continuing high level of harmonious relation between Bangladesh and Kuwait and hoped to raise it to a new height in the days to come. Guest of honour praised the contribution of Bangladesh’s Military Contingent to Kuwait and wished for more engagement in the defence sector in future between those two friendly nations.

The celebration ended by wishing ‘’Long Live Bangladesh Armed Forces’’ and ‘’Long Live Kuwait- Bangladesh friendship’’. On this occasion, H.E. Honorable President and Honorable Prime Minister of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Respected Chief of the Bangladesh Army, Navy and Air Force congratulated all members of the Bangladesh Armed Forces and praised them for their valuable contribution to the National and International arena. They also wished for continuous progress and development of the Bangladesh Armed Forces in future.
