LOS ANGELES, Oct 7, (Agencies): On Friday, Drake made a significant announcement about his music career, revealing that he plans to take a hiatus of at least a year, if not longer, to prioritize his health, particularly addressing persistent stomach issues.
Speaking on his SiriusXM radio show, "Table For One," the Canadian artist candidly stated, "I probably won't be making music for a while, to be honest." He emphasized the need to prioritize his well-being, saying, "I need to focus on my health, first and foremost – and I'll share more about that soon. It's not anything extreme, but I believe in living a healthy life, and I've been grappling with serious stomach problems for years."
This announcement coincided with the release of Drake's latest album, "For All The Dogs." Despite the timing, he is scheduled to perform in his hometown of Toronto on both Friday and Saturday, and Live Nation, the entertainment company, confirmed that these shows will proceed as planned.
However, a check on the tour section of his website and Ticketmaster reveals that a few US performances scheduled after Saturday have been postponed.
Drake also hinted at additional commitments he has made to people, without providing further details. He expressed his determination to prioritize his health and well-being, stating, "So, I need to concentrate on my health, and I need to get myself back on track. I'm going to step away from the studio for a while. I'm not sure how long that will be – maybe a year or perhaps even longer."
In addition to his radio announcement, Drake posted a clip on his Instagram on Friday morning with the caption, "See ya when I see ya," signaling his intention to take the necessary time to address his health concerns.
