‘Ramadan tents’ not allowed; Eye on ‘Iftar’ banquets

KUWAIT CITY, March 28: The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs will monitor Iftar banquets in mosques during the holy month of Ramadan and it has laid down many regulations, the most important of which is prohibiting the setting up of Ramadan tents within the mosques’ premises and electricity should not be connected to such tents, reports Al-Rai daily. Assistant Undersecretary for Mosques Sector Eng Badr Al- Otaibi issued Administrative Circular number 4/2022 to the directors of mosques regarding the Iftar banquets as follows:

1 – The party wishing to hold Iftar banquets in the mosques should submit an official letter to the administration of the governorate’s mosques requesting for approval, after coordinating with the Imam.

2 – Iftar banquets should be held in the mosque’s courtyards. Banquets are prepared half an hour before the call for prayer and removed immediately after the breaking of fast.

3 – Organizing iftar banquets is the responsibility of those in charge of the Iftar project under the supervision of the Imam.

4 – Ramadan tents are not allowed within the premises of the mosques.

5 – It is strictly forbidden to connect electricity to the Ramadan tents in order ensure the safety of worshipers.
