VBA holds first Al Hafiz-Victor Intraclub tournament
KUWAIT CITY, April 15: The Victor Badminton Academy (VBA) held the first Intraclub tournament at the Al-Sahil Sports club Abu Halifa on April 13 and 14, 2018.
Over 100 players participated in the tournament which included trainees, adults who practice daily at the club and the dedicated set of parents who are a constant support to the academy. The entire tournament was organized and conducted by the students of the academy.
The tournament was divided into eight different categories: Adults doubles, Parents doubles, Ladies doubles, Advance 1 singles, Advance 2 singles, Advance 3 singles, Beginner 1 singles, Beginner 2 singles.
The adults, parents and ladies played in round robin format at the league stage followed by knockout in semifinal and final stages while the trainees played in knockout format.
The winners are as follows:
Adult category: winners — Shibin Abraham & Kiran Suresh Kumar; runners-up Bijikesh Balakrishnan & Sreejith; semifinalists — Don James & Rajeeve K. M. and Sanal G Ketteth & Jyothish PG
Parents category: winners — Rajesh Panickar & Joji Iype; runners-up — Sudheesh & Adi; semifinalists — Wilson Rebello & Mahboob Khan and Kenil Kuriakose & Sudhakar
Ladies category: winners — Siby Sarah Ephrem & Jayshree Sreejith; runners-up — Suvarna Pradeep & Akshita Bipin; semi-finalists — Mitali Joji & Christina Rebello and Sanal G Ketteth & Jyothish P G.
Advance 1: winner — Allen Joseph Thomas; runner-up — Vinayakan Deveshan; semifinalists — Haroon Ahmed and Dharanieshwar Muthu
Advance 2: winner — VaibhavSreejith; runner-up — Sachin Pradeep; semifinalists — Prabhaharan and Abhiram Sanalkumar
