KUWAIT CITY, June 22: Due to summer vacation and the fast approaching Eid Al-Fitr holiday, Kuwait International Airport has been witness to passengers in their large numbers reaching a quarter million within the last few days, while the number is expected to hit 410,460 in the coming days.

Deputy Director General for Aviation Safety and Air Transport Engineer Emad Al-Jalwa expected the departure and arrival of around 244,000 passengers with 1,882 flights should Eid fall on Sunday. He also said the number may rise to around 410,460 if Monday is the first day of Eid, indicating the total number of departure and arrival flights would have reached 3,162.

He noted the majority of passengers are headed for tourist destinations such as Cairo, Sharm El-Sheikh, London, Turkey and Dubai to spend Eid holiday. He assured the directorate has been taking necessary steps to ensure travelers going in and out of the country have a hitch-free movement in coordination with relevant departments and agencies.

Meanwhile, several travelers have expressed disappointment over the decision of airport officials to prevent their accompanying relatives and loved ones from entering the airport. The decision has been taken to reduce the rate of congestion that hinders the travel procedures of passengers
