‘Quality produce, right price’ – ‘Shabra’ rates cheaper

KUWAIT CITY, June 12: The local agricultural sector continues to supply the markets with the most basic needs of the public – providing quality products at the right price despite the rise in food prices coinciding with the price hike wave sweeping the whole world, reports Al-Rai daily. The daily’s staff recently toured Shabra Al-Andalus — the selling point for local agricultural products.

They affirmed the availability of various types of fruits and vegetables; such as potatoes, tomatoes, cucumber, in addition to local and imported eggs. They said the prices of most of these products remain reasonable. They revealed a large number of customers expressed their happiness over the current prices; although the prices of some items have increased. They reiterated the prices of most products are reasonable and available to everyone, stressing the prices are much lower than that of other cooperatives and parallel markets.
Following are the prices of some fruits and vegetables:

■ One small carton of bananas: KD 1.5
■ One box of oranges: KD 2
■ One box of apples: KD 2
■ One kilogram of Iranian bottle gourd: 300 fils
■ One wooden box of tomatoes: KD 1.5
■ One styrofoam box of tomatoes: 500 fils
■ One bag of Kuwaiti potatoes weighing 14 kilograms: KD 2.5
■ One box of watermelon containing six pieces and weighing 16 kilograms: KD 3
■ Large bag of Yemeni onions: KD 2.5
