KUWAIT CITY, Dec 5: Qadsiya surged to the top of the basketball league standings with an emphatic 118-76 victory over Al-Qurain in the fourth round of the competition's first phase. In another match, Al-Nasr edged out Al-Sulaibikhat in a closely contested game, winning 107-102.
With this win, Qadsiya now leads with 6 points, while Al-Nasr follows with 5 points. Al-Sulaibikhat remains at 4 points, and Al-Qurain lags with 2 points.
The Qadsiya -Al-Qurain game began as a competitive affair, with the first quarter ending 29-24 in Qadsiya 's favor. The second quarter was tightly contested until Qadsiya pulled ahead in the final moments, scoring two three-pointers and a decisive basket to lead 49-40 at halftime.
The third quarter proved pivotal as Croatian star Zebic dominated from inside and outside the arc, capitalizing on Al-Qurain’s rushed plays. This extended Qadsiya’s lead to 16 points at 79-63 by the end of the third quarter. Although Al-Qurain managed to close the gap to 10 points early in the fourth quarter, Qadsiya regained control and sealed the game with a commanding performance.
In the second match, Al-Nasr asserted dominance early, taking the first quarter 31-13 and maintaining their momentum to lead 53-35 at halftime. Their advantage continued into the third quarter, ending 78-60. Despite a late rally from Al-Sulaibikhat, Al-Nasr held firm to secure the win.
These results highlight the growing intensity in the league as teams vie for top positions in the early stages of the competition.
