KUWAIT CITY, Oct 11: Qadsia secured a commanding victory in the Volleyball Federation Championship top clash against rival Arabi at the Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Sports Complex, sweeping the match 3–0 with set scores of 25–17, 25–17, 25–22 in the ninth round of the tournament.
The same round saw a dramatic five-set contest where Kazma edged past Sulaibikhat 3–2 (sets: 21–25, 25–18, 22–25, 25–15, 15–12).
In the tenth round, Burgan defeated Nasr 3–0, while Shabab recorded the same result over Yarmouk.
Standings:
Kuwait Club leads with 12 points,
Kazma and Shabab are tied at 11 points, with Kazma ahead on set difference.
Qadsia and Burgan have 8 points each,
Yarmouk has 6 points,
Arabi and Sulaibikhat hold 2 points each,
Nasr remains at the bottom with no points.
The 11th round, scheduled for tomorrow, will feature a key matchup between Kuwait SC and Qadsia, while Kazma takes on Shabab.
Per the tournament rules, the top four teams from the preliminary stage advance to the semifinals: first vs. fourth and second vs. third, with the winners meeting in the final on October 30.
Kazma enters as the defending champion, having defeated Kuwait SC 3–0 in last year’s final.
