Qadsia and Kuwait Club set for round of 16 at Arab Basketball Championship

DUBAI, Sept 30: Qadsia will take on Bahrain’s Manama today at 3:00 PM in the Round of 16 of the 37th Arab Basketball Championship, held at Rashid bin Hamdan Hall in Dubai, running until October 6. Later, at 5:00 PM, Kuwait Club will clash with the UAE’s Al-Nasr.

Two other Rounds of 16 matches will see Libya’s Ahli Tripoli face Yemen’s Shabab Hadramout, while Syria’s Homs Al-Fidaa will meet Lebanon’s Al-Antonine.

Qadsia topped Group A with 5 points, edging Homs Al-Fidaa and Al-Nasr on point difference, while Shabab Hadramout finished fourth. In Group B, Kuwait Club finished second with 5 points, behind Ahli Tripoli, who led the group with 6 points. Al-Antoni finished third with 4 points, and Manama ended last with 3 points.

During the group stage, Qadsia defeated Shabab Hadramout 105-90, Kuwait Club beat Manama 76-65, Homs Al-Fidaa overcame Al-Nasr 83-71, and Ahli Tripoli won 89-72 against Al-Antoni.

According to the tournament format, the first-place team in Group A plays the fourth-place team in Group B, the second-place team faces the third-place team, and vice versa. The same system applies to Groups C and D, which completed their group stage. Winners of the Round of 16 matches will advance to the quarterfinals.
