KUWAIT CITY, March 21: Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health Dr Mustafa Redha instructed, in a new circular, public health doctors to perform their normal and call duties at the Casualty Department of each hospital, to deal with patients that show symptoms of the new coronavirus or suspected infection – in accordance with the prescribed preventive conditions to approve the extent of need for a polymerase examination (PCR) and determination of the necessary preventive measures, reports Al-Anba daily.

The circular comes within the framework of the ministry’s keenness to regulate the progress of work in view of the epidemiological health situation and implications of the spread of new coronavirus (COVID-19), pursuant to the provisions of Law No.8/1969 regarding health precautions to prevent communicable diseases and limit the spread of epidemic. He hopes that concerned staff will adhere to and strictly implement this circular to avoid legal accountability.

To that, Dr Redha issued another circular on infection prevention guidelines as regards cleaning and environmental disinfection procedures to address the emerging coronavirus infection in health facilities. “Based on the ministry’s keenness to implement plans and strategies to combat the emerging coronavirus (COVID-19) and limit its spread to preserve health workers and community members while protecting them from the risks of developing an emerging coronavirus in order to implement preventive infection guidelines, we call for adherence to cleaning and environmental disinfection procedures in all various ministry facilities and health facilities in the public health sector”, it states.
