Probe panel formed after uproar over ‘missing containers’

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 18: At a time when ten MPs have sought to know the causes behind the disappearance of nine containers filled with illicit items from the Shuwaikh Port, a committee has been formed to look into the issue, reports Al-Rai daily quoting sources. The issue has provoked public opinion and according to knowledgeable sources the General Customs Department has requested the Public Prosecution to look into the disappearance of the containers under direct supervision of a prosecutor. The sources pointed roughly 13 separate complaints have been filed on different dates in this regard amid reports personnel from the customs department may have facilitated the exit of the containers.

Heist in Al-Rai store: Police are looking for unidentified thieves for ransacking a drainage store belonging to a company in Al-Rai and stealing goods worth KD 250 million, reports Al-Shahed daily. The case has been filed by the legal representative of the company at the Andalus Police Station. Personnel from the Criminal Evidences Department have been summoned to lift the fingerprints.
