KUWAIT CITY, Feb 2: Kuwait Media House Company has launched in collaboration with its sisterly European branch, “Sawt Al-Arab for Media,” the television station “Sawt Al-Arab.” The company chairman, Sheikh Sabah Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah, said at a ceremony marking the occasion at the new station studios in Kuwait on Saturday, that it would broadcast 24 hours from the country.
The television station general manager and chief editor, Hisham Al-Diwan, said “free media under current circumstances is not an easy profession.” However, freedom that exists in Kuwait “has largely helped us to enjoy unique freedom in news broadcasting,” unavailable in many other countries. Staff had worked over the past fours years in preparation for the 24 hour broadcasting, via Al-Shahed satellite channel.
