KUWAIT CITY, Jan 29: According to informed sources, the Minister of Public Works and Minister of State for Municipal Affairs Dr. Noura Al-Mishaan recently met with the leaders of the ministry and the Public Authority for Roads and Transportation (PART), and discussed ways to develop a quick plan to correct the defects and address dangerous sites on Abdali, Salmi, and Kabd roads.

They explained that Minister Al-Mishaan instructed the leaders of the Ministry of Public Works and PART to carry out urgent maintenance work on the dangerous sites on the three roads such as potholes, flying gravel, and subsidences, and send a report in that regard through the concerned ministry teams in the Road Engineering Sector and PART. Minister Al-Mishaan plans to hold subsequent meetings to follow up on the plan that will be prepared by the leaders, and the actions that will be taken on the ground to overcome all obstacles that will face this plan. She said, “The three roads are considered important highways that have recently witnessed several serious accidents due to the deterioration of their conditions, as reported on social media.

These roads have areas that have not witnessed maintenance for more than 20 years, which has led to a large number of potholes, fl ying gravel, and subsidences that put lives and properties at risk.” Earlier, the Minister Dr. Noura Al-Mishaan, accompanied by the acting Director of the Public Authority for Roads and Transportation (PART) Khaled Al-Osaimi and several PART’s engineers, took a tour recently to follow up the repair work being implemented by PART on King Fahad Expressway and the Sixth Ring Road. According to informed sources in the Ministry of Public Works, the minister’s tour comes within the framework of a series of tours that she is conducting to learn the latest developments in the projects being implemented by the ministry and PART, especially the contracts for road maintenance projects, as it is the most important file on the ministry’s table. The minister gave direct directives on the necessity of accelerating the pace of completion of road projects and removing all obstacles facing these projects, especially maintenance projects and the development and modernization of the country’s road network.

Meanwhile, the sources indicated that PART has placed the project related to linking the Sixth Ring Road and the south Mutlaa residential city among its priorities, as it is one of the important projects that serve the new residential city, which the state is counting on to provide adequate housing for citizens. They indicated that PART intends to implement all the requirements set by the Municipal Council regarding the proposal of council member Ahmed Hadhyan Al- Enezi to submit a traffic study to highlight the preferred route, road and method of connection according to the traffic density of the area and surrounding areas under the supervision of PART.
