LONDON, July 28: Prince Harry has extended an olive branch to his estranged family by offering access to his personal schedule, in what is seen as a serious attempt to repair fractured relations within the royal household.
The Duke of Sussex, 40, has reportedly provided senior members of the royal family with a transparent view of his diary to help avoid scheduling conflicts and to facilitate a possible meeting with King Charles III. According to the Daily Mail, the move is intended to support “deconflicting” engagements, allowing the family to coordinate events more smoothly and avoid publicity clashes.
The gesture is said to include Prince William and Princess Kate, with whom the Sussexes have had minimal contact since stepping down from royal duties in 2020.
Sources close to the matter said Harry’s decision marks a shift in tone and approach. “Harry has shifted into a new way of thinking. The tone is now all about ‘deconflicting’ with his family,” a source told the outlet.
A recent example of overlapping publicity occurred during Harry’s trip to Angola, where his charitable work with the Halo Trust coincided with the release of Queen Camilla’s official 78th birthday portrait, drawing attention away from the royal event. In response, Harry’s team reportedly created a “grid” of his activities to be shared with Buckingham Palace — and, by extension, Kensington Palace — to prevent similar situations.
The offer reportedly follows a private meeting between Harry’s aides and the monarch’s communications secretary in London. According to insiders, such coordination was previously discouraged, with the Sussexes even perceived as embracing conflicting media attention.
Despite the gesture, sources say Harry remains committed to his personal independence. “Harry still doesn’t like being controlled by the royal machinery, and that won’t change,” one insider said. “But the royals now have full sight of his schedule. It’s a significant gesture.”
While the move is seen as a step toward reconciliation, reports suggest King Charles remains “cautious and wary” of his son’s intentions.
Representatives for Prince Harry and Buckingham Palace have not publicly commented on the development.
