LONDON, Sept 7: Prince Harry is reportedly preparing to reset his relationship with the UK during a four-day visit this week, holding out hope that he can eventually bring his family back to his home country. This will be his longest trip to the UK since the passing of Queen Elizabeth three years ago.

The Duke of Sussex will be traveling alone, after a failed dispute with the Home Office over his security arrangements. He has previously stated he does not believe it is safe for the Duchess of Sussex or their children, Prince Archie, six, and Princess Lilibet, four, to make the journey.

Meghan Markle has not visited the UK since September 2022, while Archie and Lilibet last came in June of the same year, attending the late Queen’s platinum jubilee celebrations.

Sources close to Harry told The Times he has not given up hope on bringing his young family back to the UK. The prince and his team have acknowledged that the previous legal battle with the British government was unwise and plan to adopt a quieter, more discreet approach moving forward.

However, the government should expect ongoing private ‘lobbying’ from Harry on this issue, sources said.

A friend told The Times: “He’s not given up hope on bringing his family back to the UK. He wants to be able to show his children where he grew up. He wants them to know their family here. He really would like to come back to the UK much more.”

Friends also mentioned that Harry plans to “have some fun” during his visit, which will see him champion causes related to children, young people, the military, and his various charities and patronages.

On the third anniversary of his grandmother’s passing, Harry will attend the WellChild Awards in London, where he serves as a patron. The charity supports seriously ill children.

On Tuesday, he will participate in an event aimed at supporting young people affected by violence.

Wednesday and Thursday will involve private receptions and meetings with his other charities, including the Diana Award, the Invictus Foundation, and Scotty’s Little Soldiers, which supports children of military families who have lost loved ones.

It remains unclear if Harry’s busy schedule will include a meeting with the King.

King Charles, 76, and Harry, 40, have not met since February 2024, when Harry traveled to London for a brief 30-minute meeting after Charles announced his cancer diagnosis.

Harry has said that his father has stopped speaking to him over the prolonged dispute about security arrangements. He has expressed uncertainty about how much time his father has left and emphasized his desire for reconciliation with the Royal Family.

Friends of Harry told The Times: “He’s made it absolutely clear he wants a reconciliation with his family. It’s on them now.”

A friend of the King told the newspaper that Harry believes Charles should have intervened in the security issues, adding: “The water is still pretty chilly on that front.”

Currently, there is reportedly “no direct communication at all” between father and son, and no attempts have been made to open lines of communication with Harry’s brother’s team either.

Harry’s engagements this week overlap with events involving William and Kate. A source close to Harry said: “At the end of the day, as he’s no longer a member of the institution, he doesn’t feel bound to de-conflict his diary with the institution.”

This weekend, the Prince and Princess of Wales attended the Women’s Rugby World Cup matches, supporting different teams.

Prince William was seen at Sandy Park stadium in Exeter supporting the Welsh women’s team during the final group stage matches. William is a patron of the Welsh Rugby Union, while Catherine is a patron of the English Rugby Union.
