RIYADH, Nov 3: The 6th edition of the Islamic Solidarity Games – Riyadh 2025 is set to officially begin on Tuesday, 4 November, bringing together more than 3,000 male and female athletes from 57 nations to compete across 23 sports and 2 demonstration events at five main venues in the Saudi capital. The Games will run from 7 to 27 November, with the opening ceremony scheduled for Friday at Al Janadriyah.

Opening Day: Futsal and Volleyball Take Center Stage

Competitions kick off on Tuesday, 4 November, with futsal matches at the Green Halls in the Prince Faisal bin Fahad Olympic Complex. The first matchday features four contests: Saudi Arabia vs Uzbekistan, Libya vs Azerbaijan, Iran vs Morocco, and Afghanistan vs Tajikistan.

On the same day, volleyball matches begin at Boulevard Riyadh City, with Azerbaijan facing Tajikistan and Türkiye meeting Iran, officially marking the start of the Games’ competitive events.

Athletes' Training Ahead of the Games

Athletes have continued their training programs in preparation for the competitions, while the organising committees ensure smooth operations and world-class facilities to deliver an outstanding edition reflective of the Kingdom’s growing sporting stature.

The Athletes’ Village, located at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University, features a fully equipped training complex within a five-minute walk of the accommodation area, providing athletes with optimal conditions during their stay.

Five Venues Fully Prepared

All five main venues have been readied to host events:

Prince Faisal bin Fahad Olympic Complex: handball, futsal, swimming

Boulevard Riyadh City: e-Sports, table tennis, wrestling, weightlifting, para weightlifting, wushu, fencing, volleyball

Prince Faisal bin Fahad Sports City: athletics, para athletics, jiu-jitsu, judo, karate, taekwondo

Sports Boulevard: 3×3 basketball, boxing, muay thai

Al Janadriyah: equestrian (show jumping), duathlon, camel racing, and the Opening Ceremony

His Highness Prince Fahad bin Jalawi, Chairman of the Supreme Organising Committee of the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games – Riyadh 2025, visited the Athletes’ Village at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University, the residence hub for all participating delegations.

During the visit, HH Prince Fahad toured the facilities, reviewed operational plans, and received briefings on the committees’ workflow throughout the Games. The visit underscores his commitment to providing an ideal environment for athletes and ensuring a world-class edition that reinforces Riyadh’s position as a global sports capital.
