KUWAIT CITY, Aug 21: His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah chaired on Thursday a ministerial committee meeting at Bayan Palace, to follow up on agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) signed with China. The 23rd meeting discussed the progress of joint Kuwait-China initiatives, particularly the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port project, renewable energy development, housing, environmental infrastructure for sewage treatment plants, eco-friendly recycling, cooperation in combating desertification, and sustainable agriculture. His Highness the Prime Minister instructed committee members to coordinate with Chinese state companies on major development projects and expanded investment, praising their efforts under the leadership of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs and Committee Rapporteur Ambassador Sameeh Johar Hayat provided a detailed briefing on the implementation of Kuwait-China agreements and MoUs. Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdullah Al-Yahya, Minister of State for Municipal Affairs and Minister of State for Housing Affairs Abdullatif Al-Mishari, Minister of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy Dr. Subaih Al-Mukhaizeem, Director General of the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority Sheikh Dr. Meshal Jaber Al- Ahmad Al-Sabah, Acting Head of the Prime Minister’s Diwan Sheikh Khaled Mohammed Al-Khaled Al- Sabah, and Head of the Fatwa and Legislation Department Counselor Salah Ateeq Al-Majed attended the meeting. Also on Thursday at Bayan Palace, His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al- Ahmad Al-Sabah received China Baowu Steel Group delegation, headed by Wang Jiang, as well as well as representatives from China State Construction Engineering Corporation Ltd. (CSCEC).
The Chinese Transport Ministry’s CSCEC has been tasked with completing Mubarak Al-Kabeer port. The Chinese delegation gave a presentation on the establishment of the corporation, its role on the international level in providing commodities and building major projects as well as the company’s most notable projects. His Highness the Prime Minister directed with exerting efforts towards progressing strategic bilateral ties, boosting cooperation on nationalizing industries and gaining benefit from the major Chinese capabilities, to achieve the instructions of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
