KUWAIT CITY, May 15: At the request of the Kuwait Municipality, the Ministry of Electricity and Water since last March has cut off power supply to 50 shops selling birds in the Al-Rai market without giving any reasons, reports Al-Rai daily.

A group of Kuwaiti shop owners pointed out that the power cut to their shops has caused them heavy losses, especially that they trade birds which are free from any disease.

They added, the shops are licensed and legal and selling birds is their trade. The owners of the shops pointed out that they have called on the Municipality and the Ministry of Electricity and Water, to re-connect electricity to their shops saying they have been suffering for more than three months.

They added they rented a power generator for about 1,000 dinars a month to supply power to more than 50 shops to keep their birds alive and prevent damage to the equipment and stores.
