KUWAIT CITY, Feb 7: The postal issue is still a headache for the Ministry of Communications because of the successive failures experienced by this vital sector and the monitoring reports which warned of the poor level of postal services, reports Al-Qabas daily. According to reports obtained by the daily, the ministry’s delay in studying the tenders for the transportation and distribution of postal items has resulted in the postal sector remaining without distributors. Those to whom the first and third tenders were awarded have withdrawn, while the second one was canceled by the ministry.

The postal sector has had no distributors since the end of November 2019. The ministry had launched three tenders to transfer the distribution of postal items to three regions - the first covers Capital and Jahra governorates, the second covers Hawally and Farwaniya governorates, and the third covers Mubarak Al-Kabeer and Ahmadi governorates. In this regard, the supervisory authorities called on the ministry to take into account the time taken by the procedures for issuing and awarding new tenders, before the expiry of the concluded contracts, and to expedite the sending of responses to the inquiries of the supervisory authorities, as well as to investigate the accuracy when preparing the terms of the tenders in order to avoid cancellations
